Thomas Paul Moretti passed away unexpectedly November 29, 2020, in San Diego, California, a few weeks after his 54th birthday. The youngest of five children, he was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Moretti. His four siblings – Marino, Michael (Deb), Ed (Deb), and Lisa – all live in the Pittsburgh area and mourn his loss tremendously. He will be missed by his nephew Matt in Southern California and his niece Meghan in Manhattan. He also will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends around the world.
Born and raised in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, he lived his adult life in Dallas, Texas and Southern California, but he remained a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. Pittsburgh natives will appreciate the CA vanity plate on his car: STILURZ.
A graduate of Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA), Tom spent his professional career in the fields of accounting, investment banking, and wealth management. When he wasn’t working, he was traveling the world or spending time at home with his beloved dog, Franklin. He visited all seven continents and was planning trips to India, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, and Portugal. He immersed himself into the cultures of the people he met on his journeys, bringing back local artwork, trinkets, and many photos. His affection for Franklin inspired him to write two children’s books about his best friend. He was a valued volunteer leader at The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and was a committed advocate for humane animal rescue. Arrangements entrusted to the Bagnato Funeral Home.
A celebration of life is to be planned in Pittsburgh in 2021, post-COVID-19.
