Marie Raco

Marie Raco passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 18, 1955 in Carnegie, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Raco (Dornetto) and Roy “Rocky” Raco.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother and sister, Frank “Rocky” Raco (Barb) and Ann T. Shimatzki (Raco, wife of the late Frank C. Shimatzki); her nieces Lisa Shimatzki Miller (Matthew) and Lynn Readal (Matt); her nephews John Shimatzki (Tara) and Byron Raco (Amy); and her great nieces and nephews Caiden, Ryleigh, Sophie, Madeline and Graham.

Marie never married, but instead cared for her parents.  While not having children of her own, Marie was a constant and loving presence for her nieces and nephews.  She made birthday cakes, took them to their first concerts, included them on vacations and called to ask, “did you see that play?”.  She took after her father as the armchair quarterback in the family.  She was much more than your average Aunt.

Viewing times will be held at Bagnato’s Funeral Home (50 Jefferson Street, Carnegie, PA 15106) Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Third Avenue in Carnegie on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:00 am. 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Humane Animal Rescue Pittsburgh, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
