On Friday August 26, 2011; Beloved husband of Mary Lou Clark Westphal; honored father of Karen Westphal Hochberg, David and Kathy Westphal, Daniel and Maryann Westphal; brother of Nancy Joan Shawula and the late Patricia Lucero; grandfather of Tessa Hochberg, Chase, Christen, Claire, Jordan, Kayla and Olivia Westphal

Our father was a tireless worker, working two jobs most of his life while rarely missing one of our sporting events  He was a fearless  Pittsburgh firefighter and rose to the rank of Captain in a job he loved. He was an inspiring Carrick Little League coach and mentor to many. He prized honesty and lively political debate. He loved America. He bravely served in the Korean War earning a bronze star and rank of Sergeant.

He was a devoted father who taught us how to love and aspire to be good citizens by giving back to our communities. We will miss him but never forget him. Friends received at the Bagnato Funeral Home, Jefferson St, Carnegie Mon 2-4 6-8 PM. Funeral mass in St Ignatius church of St Elizabeth Ann Seton parish Tues 10 AM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Family Hospice 50 Moffett St. Pgh, PA 15243
