On Sunday, April 26, 2015 of Scott Township. He was 84. Beloved husband of 59 years to Mary (Greaney); loving father of Ellen Amrhein (Carl), Edward Jr. (Karen), Stephen, and Jill Calabrese; dear Pap-Pap to Ted (Jamie), Shannon (T.J.), Steven (Kyla), Eileen (Justin), Joshua, Michael, Peter, Anthony, David, Natalie, Jillian, Colleen, and Christopher; proud great grandfather to Olivia, Alyssa, Hayden, Eleanor, Tristan, and Ben; loving brother to Paul (Doris dec.), Charles dec. (Angie), Louis dec. (Claire), Arnold (Judy) , and Caroline dec. (Donald dec.). Ed was born on May 28, 1930 to Tancredi and Caroline (Cercone) in East Carnegie, and graduated from Langley High School. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving on an icebreaker near the Aleutian Islands and at a Naval Base in the French Morocco. He and Mary wed on April 14, 1956 in Boston. He retired as an Insurance Broker from John Hancock in 1990 and subsequently worked as a private contractor. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus attaining the rank of Fourth Degree Knight. He was also a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. He enjoyed traveling, all sports, especially a love of boxing, studying grammar, solving math problems, learning, understanding and practicing the Catholic faith. Family and friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sat. and Sun. May 2 and 3 at the Bagnato Funeral Home, 50 Jefferson St., Carnegie. A Mass will be said on Monday, May 4 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, Bower Hill Road, Scott Township. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peter’s Township.
