Dorothy (Kiefer)

Entered into heaven on the Morning of October 19, 2012 with a song in her heart. She was named Dorothy Blanche Rose Kiefer on September 20, 1927 born to Theresa and George Kiefer. Dorothy was the third of Seven children was raised in Mt. Oliver in Pittsburgh. As a young woman, she met and married Walter Vladimir Kohut. With Dorothy, the song bird, and Walter, the big band leader, their 66 years of marriage were filled with song. During those happy years, they were blessed with three daughters; Barbara, Susan and Donna. Dorothy had a very busy life, spending summers with her husband and daughters vacationing at Geneva-on-the Lake, and keeping her perfect home in Carnegie during the winter months. She was a member of St Luke’s Catholic Church where her daughters attended school. It was there she instilled her faith and love of God to her children. When her children left the nest, she took a job at Mr. Donut in Carnegie where she made many friends and enjoying chatting with her customers over coffee. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Walter, and daughters Barbara (John) Wooden of North Canton, OH, Susan (Ronald) ReBell of Susanville, CA, and Donna (Mark) Galbraith of McDonald, Pa. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Eileen Jones of Anchorage, Alaska. She was blessed with six grandchildren; Todd Wooden, Sherri Gandolf, Neil & Lindsay ReBell, Dustin Medvid and Michael Guido. Her grandchildren continued to bless her through the years with nine great grandchildren; Hanna, Brandon, Payton, Zachary, Avery, Jackson, Marley, Madison, and Michala. In addition to her immediate family, Dorothy is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She proceeded in death by her parents Teresa and George Kiefer and her siblings George Kiefer, Katherine Vaselevich, Richard Kiefer, Ruth Hennel and Robert Kiefer who greeted her arrival in heaven. Friends received at the Bagnato Funeral Home, Jefferson St., Carnegie Mon 2-4 6-8 PM. Funeral mass in St Elizabeth Ann Seton church Tues at Noon. Interment in Holy Souls Cemetery. Donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
