Barbara Clair Obituary

Barbara Ann (Brennan) Clair

December 21, 1943 - August 25, 2023

Age 79, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 25, 2023.  Barbara was born and raised in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood by her devoted parents, Raymond and Beatrice Brennan.

Barbara married the late Aloysius E. Clair in 1965 and soon moved to Whitehall where she spent 56 amazing years raising her family on Frank Street.  She was the proud mother to James A. Clair (Janine), Lisa M. George (Stephen), and Michael R. Clair; cherished grandma to Brittany A. Clair, James P. Clair, Skyler B. George, Colby T. George, and Clairessa I. George; adoring great-grandma (Gigi) to Emerson C. Monteleone.

Barbara loved being a nurse and helping people.  She shared her talents at St. Joseph’s Maternity Ward in the South Side of Pittsburgh and in private practices in Bethel Park and at Allegheny General and Mercy Hospitals. She volunteered for many organizations including Whitehall Emergency Medical Service, Provost Elementary PTO, and Jefferson Hospital.

Barbara cherished her friendships from all over including Hazelwood, Elizabeth Seton High School, St. Joseph’s Nursing School, and her “Frank Street” neighborhood friends to name a few. She will be remembered as a true friend willing to listen, laugh, and help whenever needed.

Traveling was her favorite thing to do with family and friends.  Rehoboth Beach, many Florida destinations, Bethany Beach, Baltimore, Mexico, and Aruba topped her list.  There were many camping, bus, lake and road trips she cherished as well.  She made everyone laugh sharing stories about all her adventures.

Most importantly, Barbara loved and cherished being a mom, grandma, and Gigi.  Thankfully we have many precious memories to fill and heal our broken hearts.

A private Catholic Blessing will take place Saturday, October 7, 2023 and final resting place next to her husband at Zion Cemetery in Whitehall.
